ปัจจัยที่ก่อให้เกิดการบาดเจ็บจากอุบัติอุบัติเหตุประกอบด้วย 4 ประการ ได้แก่ ผู้บาดเจ็บ พลังงาน พาหะ และสิ่งแวดล้อม โมเดลที่นิยมใช้ในการสอบสวนการบาดเจ็บจากอุบัติเหตุทางจราจรคือ โมเดลความเสี่ยงของฮาดอน โดยโมเดลนี้ประกอบด้วย 4 คอลัมภ์ ซึ่งประกอบด้วยผู้บาดเจ็บ พลังงาน สิ่งแวดล้อมทางกายภาพ และสิ่งแวดล้อมทางสังคม และ 3 แถว ซึ่งประกอบด้วยระยะเหตุการณ์ก่อนเกิดเหตุ ขณะเกิดเหตุ และหลังเกิดเหตุโมเดลความเสี่ยงของฮาดอนถูกนำมาใช้ประโยชน์ในวิเคราะห์เพื่อป้องกันการเกิดอุบัติเหตุจากจราจรซึ่งเรียกว่ากลยุทธ์ของฮาดอน
