ยาปฏิชีวนะ (Antibiotic drugs) เป็นกลุ่มยารักษาโรค หรือความเจ็บป่วยที่มีสาเหตุมาจากการติดเชื้อจุลชีพ โดยต้องเป็นผู้ประกอบวิชาชีพเวชกรรม หรือบุคคลากรทางการแพทย์บางสาขาเท่านั้นที่สามารถให้ยาในการบำบัดรักษาได้ พยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติเป็นหนึ่งในผู้ที่สามารถดำเนินการตรวจวินิจฉัย รักษาโรคเบื้องต้นโดยการใช้ยาปฏิชีวนะ ตามประกาศสภาการพยาบาล เรื่องกำหนดรายการยาและสารวินิจฉัยสำหรับพยาบาลวิชาชีพ และพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติในการรักษาโรคเบื้องต้น พ.ศ.25651 บทความนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อให้ความรู้และทบทวนสำหรับพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติให้เกิดความรู้ความเข้าใจในกลุ่มยาปฏิชีวนะ กลไกการออกฤทธิ์ ผลข้างเคียงที่สำคัญ ขนาดของยาในการบำบัดรักษาโรคที่พบบ่อย ตามขอบเขตของตามขอบเขตพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติ เพื่อให้ผู้รับบริการสุขภาพได้รับการรักษาที่มีประสิทธิภาพ เกิดความปลอดภัยในการได้รับยา และเพื่อให้เกิดมาตรฐานที่ดีในกระบวนการรักษาโรคเบื้องต้นของพยาบาลเวชปฏิบัติต่อไป
