Competencies of Graduates from the Master of Nursing Science Program in Adult and Gerontological Nursing: Stakeholders’ Expectations

This descriptive research aimed to study the competencies of graduates from the Master of Nursing Science Program in Adult and Gerontological Nursing, as expected by stakeholders. The sample consisted of 42 participants: instructors, current students, alumni, registered nurses, and administrators. The questionnaire consists of three parts: Part 1: General information; Part 2: Competencies of graduates (8 components); and Part 3: Expected program characteristics and future Study desires. The questionnaire (Part 2 & 3) underwent content validity testing, yielding a content validity index of 0.85, and reliability testing with a Cronbach's alpha coefficient of 0.86. Data were collected by the sample group via Google Forms. Descriptive statistics, including frequency, percentage, mean, and standard deviation, were analyzed. The study results showed that 1) the most essential competencies being in ethics, morality, and law; and 2) stakeholders had moderate to high agreement regarding the expected characteristics of the curriculum and expressed a desire to study, with the motivation for choosing the institution being that the institution offered a quality curriculum that was beneficial to themselves or their current/future work. Therefore, educational institutions should develop or improve high-quality Master of Nursing Science Program in Adult and Gerontological Nursing, focusing on ethics, morality, and law.
