Quality and Identity of Graduates, Faculty of Nursing, Naresuan University

The purpose of this descriptive research was to study the quality and identity of graduates from the Faculty of Nursing, Naresuan University in the academic year 2020. The population consisted of 98 head nurses or staff nurses working in the same hospitals as those graduates. The research instruments consisted of 1) a general information questionnaire, 2) a graduate quality questionnaire based on the qualifications framework for higher education in nursing (6 aspects), and 3) a graduate identity questionnaire that is consistent with the identities of Naresuan University students: being good, talented, disciplined, and proud of the nation. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics of percentage, mean and standard deviation.
The study findings revealed that the overall quality of the graduates in 6 aspects was at a high level ( = 3.99, S.D. = 0.57). The aspect with the highest score was ethics and morals (
= 4.30, S.D. = 0.65), the following scores were interpersonal skills and responsibility (
= 4.29, S.D. = 0.51) and the aspect with the lowest score was professional practice skills (
= 3.52, S.D. = 0.56). Regarding the identity of graduates, the overall identity of all 4 aspects was at a high level (
= 4.15, S.D. = 0.58). The aspect with the highest score was discipline (
= 4.32, S.D. = 0.56), followed by being a good person (
= 4.28, S.D. = 0.59) and the aspect with the lowest score was being a talented person (
= 3.81, S.D. = 0.54) Therefore, nursing students at Naresuan University should be developed into graduates with high-quality professional practice skills and more identity in being a talented person, especially in the context of emerging infectious disease outbreaks.
