The Roles, Duties, and Responsibilities of the Editor
The editor is responsible for all content published in the Journal of Nursing and Public Health Research. The key responsibilities include:
- Reviewing, screening, and evaluating submitted manuscripts to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope, adhering to academic principles and research methodologies.
- Providing recommendations and suggesting revisions to authors before submitting the manuscript for peer review.
- Selecting appropriate peer reviewers whose expertise matches the manuscript’s subject matter.
- Ensuring that manuscripts are revised in accordance with peer reviewers’ recommendations.
- Making final editorial decisions in cases where peer reviewers provide conflicting recommendations or when authors fail to make necessary revisions.
- Identifying and correcting errors in manuscripts and providing guidance to improve clarity.
- Upholding and maintaining the journal’s quality standards at all stages, from manuscript submission to final publication.
- Maintaining strict confidentiality of submitted manuscripts, review reports, author identities, and any related documents.
- If one of the peer reviewers rejects a manuscript, the editor will send the manuscript to a third reviewer and make a publication decision based on the majority opinion (2 out of 3).
- Ensuring timely and continuous publication of high-quality, standardized articles.
- Informing authors of the manuscript review results, including screening and evaluation outcomes, based on academic principles and research methodologies.
- Communicating the final editorial decision regarding acceptance or rejection of research articles, based on academic rigor, significance, novelty, clarity, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
- Considering appeals from authors who disagree with the editorial decision and providing an opportunity for fair reconsideration.
- Ensuring that expert reviewers are selected fairly based on their expertise and maintaining a double-blind review process, where reviewers remain anonymous to authors and vice versa.
- Facilitating communication and mediation between authors and peer reviewers in cases of academic disputes or differing opinions.
Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
- Submit manuscripts in accordance with the format and guidelines specified by the Journal of Nursing and Health Care.
- Revise manuscripts strictly based on the recommendations of the editor and peer reviewers. If revisions are not made as suggested, authors must provide a rationale for their decision.
- Ensure that their manuscript undergoes a plagiarism check via the Thaijo system. If the plagiarism similarity index exceeds 20%, authors must provide an explanation and make necessary corrections.
- Submit revisions through the Thaijo system within the specified timeframe.
- Carefully review the manuscript before submission to the Thaijo system, as the journal will not make any corrections once the manuscript has been uploaded.
- Ensure that research articles comply with ethical research guidelines and have undergone ethical review or rights protection approval from relevant institutions.
- Utilize up-to-date and credible sources for manuscript development.
- Refrain from submitting the manuscript to other journals while it is under review for publication.
- Ensure that the manuscript does not contain plagiarism or misrepresent the work of others as their own.
Roles and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
- Evaluate the manuscript primarily based on research methodology and academic principles, while formatting and proofreading issues are considered secondary concerns.
- Maintain anonymity in the review process, adhering to the double-blind review policy.
- Refrain from soliciting benefits or favors from authors.
- Conduct reviews with fairness and uphold academic integrity.
- If two out of three reviewers reject a manuscript, it will be considered unsuitable for publication.
- Avoid direct communication with the author; any necessary discussions should be coordinated through the editor.
- Acknowledge that the final decision regarding manuscript acceptance or rejection rests with the journal's editor.
- Recommend up-to-date and credible references or sources to enhance the quality of the manuscript.
