Strategies for Strengthening Community Health Volunteers in Driving Health Promotion Activities in Remote and Underserved Areas

Abstract

The article entitled “Strategies for Strengthening Community Health Volunteers in Driving Health Promotion in Remote Areas” aims to explain the roles, significance, and strategic approaches for developing Village Health Volunteers (VHVs) to enhance their capacity to implement health promotion activities in contexts characterized by geographical, social, cultural, and healthcare access constraints. The article emphasizes that VHVs serve as a crucial mechanism linking the public health service system with communities, as they maintain close relationships with local populations and possess a deep understanding of the local context. The strategies for strengthening VHVs presented in the article include enhancing their capacity and competencies in health promotion and disease prevention; empowering volunteers through participatory processes and the development of positive attitudes; providing guidance and support for operations across social, economic, cultural, and health dimensions; applying digital technologies to improve work efficiency; managing health networks and integrating collaboration with relevant stakeholders; and fostering motivation and job security among VHVs. In conclusion, the article highlights that a systematic and comprehensive approach to VHV development can strengthen community capacity, improve the effectiveness of health promotion initiatives, and support the sustainability of the primary healthcare system in remote and underserved areas.
