THE EFFECT OF SELF-EFFICACY PROMOTING PROGRAM ON HEALTHCARE BEHAVIORS AMONG CAREGIVERS OF CHILDREN WITH ASTHMA

This quasi-experimental research aimed to study the effect of self-efficacy promoting program on healthcare behaviors among caregivers of children with asthma. A simple random sampling was conducted to obtain 30 caregivers of children patients with asthma, aged 2-15 years, registered in the chronic disease clinic in the Thatphanom Crown Prince Hospital. The research tool was the self-efficacy promoting program on healthcare behaviors among caregivers of children with asthma. The study periods were 6 weeks. Data were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed in frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation, and paired sample t-test. The results show that 80% of participants were female, 46.67% were between 31-40 years old. 53.33% of participants had 2 years of patient care. The mean score on the post-test of the knowledge of asthma, the perceived self-efficacy, and health care behaviors among caregivers of children with asthma were different with statistically significant (p<0.05).
