EFFECTS OF THE NUTRITIONAL KNOWLEDGE PROGRAM ON FOOD CONSUMPTION BEHAVIOR OF OVERWEIGHT ELDERLY IN THE AREA UNDER RESPONSIBILITY OF THE MUANG COMMUNITY HEALTH CENTER, UDONTHANI HOSPITAL 2, MUEANG DISTRICT, UDONTHANI PROVINCE

The quasi-experimental study design was employed using a pre-test–post-test control group. This study was conducted to assess the effectiveness of the nutritional literacy development program on food consumption behavior in overweight elderly at the area of responsibility of Mueang Community Health Center, Udon Thani Hospital 2, Mueang District, Udon Thani Province. The overweight elderly were assigned to the intervention group and control groups with each 36 persons per group. A nutrition literacy and food consumption questionnaire. Was used applied concept of developing health literacy of Nutbeam and the Health Education Division to create a program was provided 3 times in 6 weeks. The follow up of nutrition literacy program was assessed at 3 months. Inferential statistics such as The Paired Sample t-test and independent t–test.
The results showed that the score of food consumption behavior among experimental group after receiving the program was higher than before receiving the program with significantly (p<0.05). And the score of food consumption behavior among experimental group was significantly higher than control group (p<0.05).
