THE EFFECT OF EMPOWERMENT PROGRAM ON DENGUE HEMORRHAGIC DISEASE PREVENTION AMONG HOUSEHOLD LEADERS

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to study the effect of empowerment program on dengue hemorrhagic disease prevention among household leaders. A simple random sampling was conducted to obtain 34 household leaders living in Saimoon village, Numkum sub-district, Thatphanom district, Nakhonphanom province. The research tools consisted of empowerment program on dengue hemorrhagic disease prevention among household leaders and the handbook on dengue hemorrhagic disease prevention. The study periods were 5 weeks. Data were collected by questionnaire. The data were analyzed in terms of percentage and paired sample t-test. The study result showed that 52.95% of participants were female, 52.95% were between the ages of 31-40 years, 85.29% of participants were couples, 88.23% had received undergraduate and 82.35% of participants were farmers. The results found that the mean score on the post-test of the knowledge, the self-esteem, the self-efficacy expectation and dengue hemorrhagic disease prevention behaviors were different from pre-test statistically significant (p<0.01).
