Abstract

This cross-sectional study aimed to study the association between personal factors, health literacy, and health care behaviors among type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. The samples were 135 type 2 diabetes mellitus patients who registered in chronic disease clinic in the 50 Pansa Mahavajiralongkorn hospital. Data was collected by the interview questionnaire of health literacy for type 2 diabetes mellitus patients. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, Chi-square test, and Pearson product-moment correlation coefficient. The study result showed that 77.77% of diabetic patients had a low level of health literacy. The personal factors included age, education, and occupational-related health care behaviors with statistical significance at p-value <0.05. Moreover, the level of health literacy related to health care behaviors with statistical significance at p-value <0.05.
