THE EFFECTIVENESS OF PARTICIPATORY LEARNING PROGRAM ON KNOWLEDGE, ATTITUDES, AND BEHAVIORS IN DRUG UTILIZATION OF BUDDHIST MONKS

The monks had several drug–related problems. While the promoted method of proper drug utilization was limited. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of a participatory learning program on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in drug utilization of Buddhist monks, Muang district, Phayao province. This study was one group pre- and post- test study. The sample was 52 Buddhist monks who lived in the temples located in Muang, Phayao province. The purposive sampling was used to select the sample.
The sample received the three hours participatory learning program on drug utilization. The program consisted of lecturing, group activity, experiences exchange, and thinking training. The results were measured before and after (1 and 10 weeks) implementing the program using self - administered questionnaires. Descriptive statistics, paired t-test, and repeated measure ANOVA were applied for data analysis. The results indicated that at one and tenth weeks after implementing the participatory learning program, the mean scores of knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in drug utilization of the sample were statistically significantly higher than those implementing the program (p <0.05). In summary, this participatory learning program on drug utilization had effectiveness on knowledge, attitudes, and behaviors in medication utilization.
