EFFECTIVENESS OF HEALTH EDUCATION PROGRAM APPLYING HEALTH BELIEF MODEL FOR RELAPSE PREVENTION BEHAVIORS AMONG METAMPHETAMINE PATIENTS AT A SELECTED HOSPITAL IN SONGKHLA PROVINCE

This quasi-experimental research with two group pretest-posttest design aimed to study the result of the program to promote the prevention of relapsing into methamphetamine for patients receiving treatment at Thanyarak Songkhla Hospital. The sample was 134 people; 67 people in experimental group received knowledge promotion activities and self-assessment, 67 people in control group used 8 weeks of research. Data were collected by questionnaire and analyzed data using t-test.
Most of sample are male 65.7%, average aged 29 years old, the drugs used were methamphetamine and ice, most of them never had any treatment. After participating in the activity, it found that the experimental group showed improvement in health beliefs but with no statistical significant compared to the control group. The efficacy perception of the prevention of relapsing into Methamphetamine found the experimental group had more awareness than before and the control group (p-value <0.05), the experimental group had more relapsing prevention behavior than the control group (p-value <0.05).
