THE EFFECT OF KNEE WRAP WITH HERBAL MEDICINE ON THE KNEE PAIN IN OSTEOARTHRITIS PATIENTS AT BAN KHOK HOSPITAL, UTTARADIT PROVINCE

Abstract

This study was a quasi-experimental research to study the effect of knee wrap using a plaster mask on knee pain in Osteoarthritis patients, Ban Khok Hospital, Ban Khok Sub district, Ban Khok District, Uttaradit Province. The sample consisted of 30 purposive sampling from patients at Ban Khok Hospital, Ban Khok Sub-district, Ban Khok District, Uttaradit Province. The patients received herbal wrap for 5 days, 1 time a day, 20 minutes each time, with the herb every other day. The instrument was used to collect data into 3 parts which were questionnaire about Patient, Knee pain evaluation form, Record form for measuring degrees of motion of the knee joint. Evaluation of treatment from physical examination procedures before and after the knee wrap analyze by using frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and Paired simple t-test.

The conclusion of the research was that the comparison of mean scores of knee pain among the samples between before the first wrap and after the 5th wrap was significantly different at the level of 0.05, before the first wrap. The average value was 5.70 after the 5th wrap, the average was 2.47. In addition, the comparison of the average degree of knee movement of the sample between before the first wrap and after the 5th wrap was not significantly different at the level of 0.05, before the first wrap had an average value of 117.67. The average is 118.67.
