Abstract

Background : To classify and raise the awareness for the welfare of the adolescents. When the adolescent have successfully adjusted themselves, they can have self-development and good personality that are crucial foundation of their life.

Objective : To study the prevalence of depression and conduct behaviors associated factors relations between depression and conduct behaviors among adolescents (10 – 15 years old) at Rajvithi Home forGirls.

Design : A cross-sectional descriptive study.

Setting : RajvithiHomeforGirls.

Materials and Method : Data were collected from 119 adolescents (10 - 15 years old) from all girls at Rajvithi Home for Girls. There are 3 sets of instruments, namely: 1) General background, 2) Children’s Depression Inventories; 3) The Strength and Difficulties Questionnaire for parent.

Result : The overall prevalence of depression, conduct behavior and comorbidity (depression and conduct behavior) in adolescents (10 - 15 years old) at Rajvithi Home for Girls were 52.9%, 12.6% and 10.1%, respectively. Their education was significantly related to their total difficulties score, emotional symptoms scale and peer problems scale (p < 0.01). Furthermore, depression related to conduct behavior at low level (p> 0.05).

Conclusion : In this study, the prevalence of depression and conduct behaviors were higher than other studies. The finding of the risk factor will help related persons or organization for providing an appropriate assistance.
