Factors related to safe motorcycle driving behavior of people in Koh Samui District Surat Thani Province

Abstract

Factors related to safety motorcycle driving behavior of people in Koh Samui District Surat Thani Province. Had purposes for study of safety motorcycling behavior and to study the factors related to safety motorcycle driving behavior. The samples size 420 people who lived in 7 sub-districts Koh Samui District. The sample size to answered the questionnaire consisted of 4 parts. 1.) General information and accidental experienced. 2.) Knowledge of traffic rules. 3.) safety attitude in driving motorcycles. 4.) safety motorcycle driving behavior. Use descriptive statistics to analyzed the data; mean, percentage, standard deviation and the inferential statistics to find the association was Pearson Correlation Coefficient.

The results.

1. The safety driving behavior of motorcycles was moderate (69.5%). Knowledge of traffic rules was moderate (65.7%). Attitude about safe driving of motorcycles was 80.5%.
2. The relationship between personal factors, Age, marital status, motorcycle driving license, Motorcycle engine and equipment tuning, Average duration of driving a motorcycle per day were significantly positively correlated with safe motorcycling driving behavior. (P≤0.05). knowledge of traffic rules and attitude about safety driving were significantly positively correlated with safety motorcycle driving behaviors. (P≤0.05). The accident experienced was no relationship with safety motorcycling behavior but the accident experience had a statistically significant relationship with the cause of the accident (P≤0.05)
