ความบกพร่องทางชาญปัญญาในผู้ป่วย หลังได้รับบาดเจ็บที่สมอง

การศึกษาเชิงพรรณนาแบบเก็บไปช้างหน้าของความบกพร่องทางชาญปัญญาในผู้ป่วยบาดเจ็บที่สมองที่เข้ารับการศึกษาในโรงพยาบาลสงขลานครินทร์ ตั้งแต่เดือนมกราคม 2553 - ธันวาคม 2556 พบว่าเมื่อออกจากโรงพยาบาลมีผู้ป่วยที่มีภาวะบกพร่องทางชาญปัญญาจากการตรวจด้วย MMSE มีคะแนนน้อยกว่า 23 คะแนน จำนวน 187 รายในผู้ป่วยที่ทดสอบได้ 521 ราย คิดเป็นร้อยละ 35.89 และมีผู้ป่วยจำนวน 30 รายที่มีความบกพร่องทางชาญปัญญาในขณะออกจากโรงพยาบาล แต่ไม่มีนัดติดตามด้านประสาทศัลยกรรม ทำให้ผู้ป่วยและญาติขาดโอกาสที่จะได้รับข้อมูลการดูแลตนเองและเฝ้าระวังอาการหรือความบกพร่องของการทำงานหรือใช้ชีวิตประจำวัน อันเนื่องจากความบกพร่องทางชาญปัญญา การตรวจผู้ป่วยด้วย MMSE จึงควรกระทำทุกรายในผู้ป่วยบาดเจ็บที่สมองก่อนให้กลับบ้าน
