This research aimed to compare the classification of abscess with a single head in the Phaijit Mahawong Scripture with conditions in modern medicine. This study employed an interpretive documentary research design using qualitative content analysis and expert-informed mapping to compare the classification of single-headed abscess between the Phaijit Mahawong Scripture and modern medical conditions. The results revealed that the Phaijit Mahawong Scripture classifies abscess with a single head into four types based on clinical manifestations, anatomical location, seasonal timing, and elemental pathogenesis (Dhatu Samutthan), which corresponds to the current medical classification of suppurative infectious conditions. The Phaijit Mahawong Scripture exhibits a disease classification system that corresponds to modern medical principles. This study presents a linkage of single-head abscess manifestations from the traditional Thai medical scripture to enable communication with contemporary medicine.
