Happiness and related factors of managing directors in industrial plants in Bangkok.

Abstract

Objective : To study levels of happiness and related factors of managing directors in industrial plants in Bangkok.

Participants : Four hundred and thirty-one subjects from industrial plants in Bangkok.

Methods : Levels of happiness were obtained by using the Thai Mental Health Indicators-66 (TMHI-66). Demographic, work, and social data were also collected. Managing directors with different levels of happiness were compared with respect to their demographic, work, and social variables by using chi-square tests. Then, the variables that were statistically significantly associated with the level of happiness in the initial analysis were analyzed by using multiple logistic regression analysis.

Results : Fifty-nine percent and 41% of managing directors had fair (mean score = 127.5) and poor levels (mean score = 115.1) of happiness, respectively. Only one managing directors had good level of happiness (0.2%; score = 160.0). Being male, old age, high education level, and high number of working hour per day were associated with happiness in managing directors in industrial plants (p < 0.05).

Conclusion : Most managing directors had fair level of happiness. Related factors for happiness in the directors of industrial plants were sex, age, education level, and number of working hour work per day.
