Development of International Food Safety Authority Network (INFOSAN) in Thailand

The International Food Safety Authorities Network (INFOSAN), a joint Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Health Organization (WHO) initiative, aims to: promote the rapid exchange of information during food safety-related events; share information on important food safety-related issues of global interest; promote partnership and collaboration among countries; and help countries strengthen their capacity to manage food safety risks comply with International Health Regulations, 2005. INFOSAN Thailand was established in 2003. Bureau of food safety extension and support, the office of Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Public Health has been assigned to be National INFOSAN Emergency Contact Point and INFOSAN Focal Point. Hence, we report the developmental and results of the INFOSAN Thailand during 2003 – 2014 with the purpose to enhance its activities to effectively tackle food safety emergency events in the ASEAN community context.
