Highlight
- As of December 31, 2024, 16,440 cases of gonorrhea and no fatalities were reported, with a morbidity rate of 25.29 per 100,000 people, representing a 36% increase in the mobility rate compared with 2024. The female-to-male ratio is 1:6.8. Age-specific rates were highest among 15 to 24-year-olds (119.34 per 100,000 people).
- In 2024, the number of gonorrhea cases was higher than the median of the past five years (2019-2023), with a noticeable increase in the number of patients. The highest incidence rates were observed in May and November, coinciding with school vacation periods for youth and university students.
- Surveillance should focus more on at-risk groups, particularly youth, students, and university students. Continuous campaigns and public awareness efforts should emphasize the importance of using condoms, all sexual encounter routes during every sexual encounter, access to care under a physician, and follow-up until full recovery.
