THE EPIDEMIOLOGICAL SURVEILLANCE DATA REPORTING SYSTEM THROUGH THE RADIO COMMUNICATION NETWORK OF KALASIN PROVINCIAL PUBLIC HEALTH OFFICE
Abstract
The study aimed to develop the epidemiological surveillance data system,that results in prompting disease control and providing daily epidemic detection, in order to control the epidemic which is indicated by none of a new case was reported. The study covers every health centers in Kalasin province with in one year period(January 1, to December 31, 1995). Each health center was assigned to report a case using the Radio Communication Network Form(RCNet form) that was developed and standardized by the research team. Reporting was limited only 15 imporant communicable diseases in the area. Eight of these diseases which may be defined as rapid spread and/or severe diseases must be promptly reported. The remaining diseases must be notified to the provincial public health office by 24 hours.
Findings indicated that 28,060 cases were reported through the RCNet form while the existing diseases reporting system by the 506 reporting form found 25,073 cases. The percentage of sending the report in time was 70.0 by the existing disease reporting system,but 98.9 percent was reported by the RCNet form Moreover 20 epidemic investigation reports showed that no new case was notified and the epidemic was controlled rapidly.
