Abstract

Highlight

  • Non–communicable diseases (NCDs) are the leading cause of mortality among the Thai population.
  • Among these diseases, stroke has the highest mortality rate and shows a continuously increasing trend.
  • Mortality from the five major NCDs, which are stroke, ischemic heart disease, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, and chronic respiratory diseases, accounted for an average of 107,590 deaths per year, or approximately 295 deaths per day, in 2020–2024
  • Males and people aged 70 years and above had both the largest number of deaths and the highest mortality rate.
  • Health Region 3 reported the highest mortality rate associated with the five major NCDs.
  • Pattani, Chai Nat, and Phitsanulok were the top three provinces with the highest age–standardized mortality rates.
