Background and Objectives

The Journal of Nursing and Community Health, Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Alumni Association is published by the Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Alumni Association. The journal serves as a platform for disseminating knowledge, research findings, academic work, routine-to-research projects, and innovations related to nursing, health, and community health systems. It also promotes knowledge exchange among academics, researchers, nursing educators, students, healthcare professionals, and practitioners in related disciplines.

The journal supports the generation and application of knowledge to improve healthcare quality, nursing education, healthcare personnel competencies, healthcare services at all levels, and health systems that respond to the needs and contexts of individuals, families, communities, and society in a sustainable manner.

The journal is committed to academic quality, originality, transparency, editorial independence, research ethics, and publication ethics. Manuscripts submitted for consideration must not have been previously published in any journal or other scholarly publication and must not be under consideration by another journal at the same time.

Aims and Scope

The journal welcomes manuscripts covering various dimensions of nursing and health, including all nursing specialties and levels of healthcare services: primary, secondary, and tertiary care. Relevant areas include community nursing and primary healthcare, health promotion and disease prevention, chronic illness care, older-person care, palliative care, continuity of care from hospitals to families and communities, health system development, and nursing quality improvement.

The journal also considers manuscripts concerning nursing education, learner competency development, technology- and artificial intelligence-enhanced learning, interprofessional education, interprofessional collaboration, routine-to-research, healthcare quality improvement, patient safety, clinical innovation, eHealth, mHealth, digital health, and community-based health innovations.

Other relevant areas include mental health, spiritual health, healthcare ethics, nursing administration, health policy, professional development, and healthcare for populations or groups with specific needs.

Types of Manuscripts

The journal accepts the following types of manuscripts:

  1. Research Articles
  2. Academic Articles
  3. Routine-to-Research (R2R) Articles
  4. Innovation Articles
  5. Practice-Based or Project Implementation Articles

All manuscripts must be relevant to the journal’s aims and scope, supported by appropriate scholarly evidence, and demonstrate potential contributions to knowledge development, nursing practice, nursing education, healthcare services, or health systems.

Publication Languages

The journal accepts manuscripts written in either Thai or English. Thai-language manuscripts must include titles, abstracts, and keywords in both Thai and English. English-language manuscripts must contain all required components in accordance with the journal’s author guidelines and should be proofread by a person proficient in academic English before submission.

Editorial and Peer-Review Process

Following submission, each manuscript undergoes an initial editorial screening to assess its relevance to the journal’s aims and scope, compliance with the required format, academic quality, originality, accuracy of citations and references, and adherence to research and publication ethics.

Manuscripts that do not comply with the journal’s requirements may be returned to the authors for revision before entering the peer-review process. A manuscript may be rejected during the initial editorial screening if it falls outside the journal’s scope or contains significant academic, methodological, or ethical deficiencies.

Manuscripts that pass the initial screening are evaluated by at least three reviewers with expertise directly related or relevant to the manuscript’s subject matter. The journal applies a double-blind peer-review process, in which the identities of both the authors and reviewers are concealed. Reviewers must have no conflicts of interest with the authors or the manuscript under review and should be selected from different institutions where appropriate.

Decisions to accept, conditionally accept subject to revision, return for further review, or reject a manuscript are made by the Editor-in-Chief. Editorial decisions are based on the reviewers’ recommendations, the manuscript’s academic quality, originality, methodological rigour, and contribution to nursing and health knowledge.

If a manuscript is authored by or otherwise connected to the Editor-in-Chief, a member of the Editorial Board, or a person affiliated with the same institution, the individual concerned will not participate in reviewer selection or the editorial decision for that manuscript. This policy is intended to preserve editorial independence, transparency, fairness, and the integrity of the review process.

Manuscript Preparation and Submission

Authors must prepare manuscripts in accordance with the journal’s prescribed format. Manuscripts must use TH Sarabun New or TH Sarabun PSK, 16-point font, on A4-sized pages. The complete manuscript, including tables, figures, and references, must not exceed 12 pages. Thai and English abstracts must not exceed 300 words each.

Research articles should include the title; names and affiliations of all authors; abstracts and keywords; introduction; research objectives; conceptual framework or hypotheses, where applicable; research methodology; results; discussion; recommendations; conclusion; and references. Other types of manuscripts should be structured according to their nature and the format prescribed by the journal.

The journal uses the Vancouver referencing style, in which references are numbered consecutively in the order in which they first appear in the text. Authors are responsible for verifying the accuracy and completeness of all citations and references. Online sources must be reliable, appropriately cited, and accessible through valid URLs.

The full name, institutional affiliation, and email address of every author must be provided. One author must be clearly identified as the corresponding author and be responsible for all communication with the journal.

All manuscripts must be submitted exclusively through the journal’s ThaiJO online submission system. When revisions are requested, authors must upload the revised manuscript through the Discussion or Revision stage of the original submission. Authors must not create a new submission for a revised version of the same manuscript.

Plagiarism and Similarity-Checking Policy

Every submitted manuscript is screened for textual similarity using Turnitin or an equivalent similarity-detection system before entering the peer-review process. The journal generally requires an overall Similarity Index of no more than 30%.

However, the Editorial Board examines the similarity report in consideration of the content, source of the matched text, nature and extent of the overlap, and appropriateness of the citations. The overall Similarity Index is not used as the sole criterion for determining plagiarism or publication misconduct.

If plagiarism, unattributed use of another person’s words or ideas, duplicate publication, inappropriate text recycling, data fabrication, data falsification, or any other form of research or publication misconduct is identified, the journal may return the manuscript for revision, suspend the review process, or reject the manuscript, depending on the nature and severity of the concern.

If misconduct is identified after publication, the journal will conduct an appropriate investigation and may issue a clarification, correction, expression of concern, or retraction in accordance with the journal’s publication ethics procedures.

Research and Publication Ethics

Research involving human participants or animals must have received approval from an appropriately authorised research ethics committee before data collection begins. Authors must state the name of the approving ethics committee, the approval number, and the date of approval in the manuscript.

Research must be conducted with respect for the rights, safety, dignity, privacy, and confidentiality of research participants. Where applicable, informed consent must be obtained and appropriately documented.

All individuals listed as authors must have made substantial contributions to the work, reviewed and approved the submitted manuscript, and accepted accountability for its accuracy and integrity. Authors must disclose all sources of financial support, conflicts of interest, and relationships that could influence the conduct, interpretation, or reporting of the study.

The journal does not tolerate plagiarism, duplicate or simultaneous submission, redundant publication, unjustified fragmentation of research findings, data fabrication or falsification, citation manipulation, inappropriate authorship, or any other form of academic misconduct.

When a complaint or allegation of misconduct is received, the Editorial Board will conduct a fair and confidential investigation, provide the relevant parties with an opportunity to respond, and take appropriate action in accordance with recognised research and publication ethics principles.

Open Access Policy

The journal operates under an open access policy. All published articles are freely available to readers, who may access, read, and download the full text without subscription or access charges.

This policy aims to support the widespread dissemination of knowledge, scholarly exchange, and the application of research and academic work to the development of nursing, health, nursing education, and healthcare services.

Any reuse or redistribution of published material must include appropriate acknowledgement of the authors, article title, journal title, and publication details and must comply with the journal’s copyright and licensing policy.

Copyright and Licensing Policy

Authors retain copyright in their articles and grant the Journal of Nursing and Community Health, Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Alumni Association the right of first publication.

Published articles are licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International Licence (CC BY-NC-ND 4.0). Under this licence, readers may copy and redistribute the published material in any medium or format for non-commercial purposes, provided that the material remains unchanged and appropriate credit is given to the authors and the journal.

Authors are responsible for ensuring that any text, figures, tables, assessment instruments, photographs, or other materials included in their manuscripts do not infringe copyright, intellectual property rights, confidentiality, privacy, or other rights held by third parties. Authors must obtain permission before using copyrighted material and provide evidence of permission to the Editorial Board upon request.

The opinions, interpretations, and conclusions expressed in published articles are solely those of the authors and do not necessarily reflect the views of the Editor-in-Chief, the Editorial Board, the reviewers, the Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Alumni Association, or the authors’ affiliated institutions.

Publication Fee Policy

The journal does not charge a manuscript submission fee. An Article Processing Charge (APC) is collected only after a manuscript has been formally accepted for publication.

The publication fees are as follows:

  • Members of the Boromarajonani College of Nursing Khon Kaen Alumni Association: THB 3,000 per article
  • Non-members: THB 3,500 per article

The Editorial Board may grant a partial or full fee waiver for manuscripts of substantial academic merit or in circumstances considered appropriate for scholarly support, subject to the journal’s criteria and the approval of the Alumni Association Committee.

Payment of the publication fee, membership status, or receipt of a fee waiver has no influence on the peer-review process, editorial evaluation, or decision to accept or reject a manuscript. All editorial decisions are based exclusively on the manuscript’s quality, accuracy, originality, methodological soundness, and scholarly contribution.

Publication Frequency

The journal is published online three times per year according to the following schedule:

  1. Issue 1: January–April
  2. Issue 2: May–August
  3. Issue 3: September–December

All articles must complete the journal’s editorial screening and peer-review process and receive formal acceptance before being scheduled for publication in an issue.
