Factors Affecting Quality of Life of Cancer Patients Undergoing Surgery in Udon Thani Cancer Hospital

This predictive research was aimed to explore the level of quality of life and study factors affecting the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing surgery admitted to Udon Thani Cancer Hospital. 160 cancer patients undergoing surgery admitted to Udon Thani Cancer Hospital at all 3 inpatient wards of Udon Thani Cancer Hospital between July and September 2023, were selected by purposive sampling. The instruments used to collect the data were comprised of the demographic questionnaire of the patients, and the Thai version of European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer Quality of Life QLQ - C30 questionnaire (EORTC QLQ - C30). The data were analyzed by descriptive statistics, and Multiple regression.
The results of the study showed that
1. Quality of life of cancer patients treated with surgery,surgery combined with chemotherapy, and surgery combined with radiation That was assessed with EORTC QLQ - C30 , had a score for quality of life and overall health status been moderate(Mean = 3.50, S.D. = 0.44).
2. Factors affecting the quality of life of cancer patients undergoing surgery at Udon Thani Cancer Hospital were found that gender, number of times the cancer came back. The number of times receiving treatment was negatively related. While the type of treatment and age were positively related to the overall quality of life of cancer patients treated with surgery (p < 0.001), with a multiple correlation coefficient of 0.877 and predicted the overall quality of life of cancer patients treated with surgery for 86.9% as shown in the equation overall quality of life of cancer patients treated with surgery = 20.723 -3.236 gender +1.884 type of Treatment -1.822 Number of times the cancer came back -4.036 Number.
