Factors Associated with Tuberculosis Prevention Behaviors among Household Contacts Tuberculosis Patients in Chauat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province

Abstract

This research is a cross-sectional survey. The objective is to study, Tuberculosis prevention perception and tuberculosis prevention behaviors. Also, to find the factors related to the tuberculosis prevention behaviors among household contacts of tuberculosis patients in Chauat District, Nakhon Si Thammarat Province. The sample size consisted of 203 participants. The research instrument was a questionnaire, with reliability coefficient of 0.89. Data were analyzed by descriptive statistics and Pearson’s correlation coefficient, with the significance level set at 0.05.
The research results revealed that the participants had a high level of Perception Also, the subdomain of perception  ware a high level, including perceived susceptibility to tuberculosis (86.21%), perceived severity of tuberculosis (70.94%), perceived benefits of tuberculosis prevention (90.15%), and perceived barriers to tuberculosis  prevention (60.10%).  The tuberculosis prevention behavior has at a high level (81.28%). in addition, the factors statistic significantly positive associated with tuberculosis prevention behavior at the 0.01 including tuberculosis prevention perception, perceived susceptibility to tuberculosis, perceived severity of tuberculosis, perceived benefits of tuberculosis prevention, and perceived barriers to tuberculosis prevention, (r = 0.594, 0.472, 0.375, 0.536, and 0.291, respectively). The findings can be used to develop the policies, measurement, or practical guidelines for the surveillance, prevention, and control of tuberculosis.
