The Ambulance Operation Center (AOC) of Phra Nang Klao hospital reported an accident involving a private car, a taxi, and a motorcycle with a sidecar occurred on a flyover at Mueang Nonthaburi district Nonthaburi province. The collision resulted in multiple injuries and one fatality. The AOC's injury investigation team conducted an investigation to develop measures for prevention of similar incidents in the future. Data collection involved a comprehensive review of medical records, a detailed survey of the accident scene, assessment of vehicle conditions, interviews with survivors and first responders, and analysis of injury factors according to Haddon’s matrix model.
The investigation revealed that there was one death at scene; a 47-year-old motorcycle sidecar driver, was reported death at the scene. Additionally, a 52-year-old taxi driver was injured. The incidence was attributed to the reckless driving behavior of both the taxi driver and the driver of the private car. The severity of the collision was likely to increase by high-speed driving on the descent of the overpass in combination with poor visibility and the lack of warning signs or speed-reducing measures, such as speed bumps on the bridge.
