Outcomes of Telepharmacy in Non Communicable Diseases Patients at Saingam Hospital, Kamphaeng Phet Province.

Abstract

This quasi-experimental study aimed to compare clinical outcomes among patients with non-communicable diseases (NCDs) before and after receiving telepharmacy services, and to examine medication adherence and patient satisfaction with telepharmacy. The study was conducted at Sai Ngam Hospital, Kamphaeng Phet Province, from October 1 to November 30, 2025. The sample consisted of 119 NCD patients who received telepharmacy services. Clinical outcomes before and after receiving telepharmacy services were compared, including glycemic levels (FBS, HbA1c), blood pressure, and LDL-C. Medication adherence was assessed using the Medication Adherence Scale for Thais (MAST^©), and patient satisfaction after receiving telepharmacy services was evaluated. Descriptive and inferential statistics were used, including the Paired Samples t-test and chi-square, to compare clinical outcomes at a significance level of p < 0.05. The results showed that patients had significantly improved mean clinical outcomes after receiving telepharmacy services compared with baseline. The mean SBP, FBS, HbA1c, and LDL-C levels decreased significantly (p < 0.05). The achievement rates of treatment goals for all three chronic diseases (diabetes, hypertension, dyslipidemia) were statistically significantly higher than before receiving telepharmacy service, with an average target achievement rate of approximately 65%. Patients receiving telepharmacy showed high medication adherence (90.8%). Overall satisfaction with the telepharmacy service was at the "highest" level (mean score 4.59). In conclusion, telepharmacy service is effective in improving clinical outcomes, promoting medication adherence, and achieving high patient satisfaction. Therefore, telepharmacy should be continuously implemented to enhance the care system for patients with non-communicable diseases.
