Publication Ethics and Editorial Responsibilities
Journal of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health Research (JMNPR)
Roles and Responsibilities of Editors
The Editorial Team is responsible for all content published in the Journal of Medicine, Nursing and Public Health Research. Editors must ensure fairness, academic rigor, and adherence to ethical standards throughout the publication process. Their responsibilities include:
Screening submitted manuscripts to ensure alignment with the journal’s scope and academic standards.
Providing initial recommendations for revision before sending manuscripts for peer review.
Selecting at least two qualified peer reviewers from diverse institutions whose expertise matches the manuscript’s subject matter.
Ensuring authors address reviewers' comments appropriately and reviewing revised manuscripts.
Making editorial decisions when reviewers’ recommendations differ or when authors do not respond adequately to required revisions.
Offering guidance to authors to improve clarity, accuracy, and academic presentation of manuscripts.
Maintaining consistent publication quality and ensuring timely publication.
Upholding strict confidentiality of all submitted manuscripts, reviewer identities, author information, and related documents.
Making the final decision in cases where two reviewers are invited: if one rejects and one accepts, the editor will decide; for three reviewers, acceptance requires at least two positive recommendations.
Communicating editorial decisions to authors clearly and promptly.
Ensuring decisions are based on academic merit, originality, importance, research quality, and relevance to the journal’s scope.
Allowing authors to appeal editorial decisions when justified.
Ensuring a double-blind review process, where authors and reviewers do not know each other's identities.
Providing clear author guidelines, formatting instructions, and submission procedures via the journal website.
Recusal requirement: Editors who serve as members or chairs of the Institutional Review Board (IRB/EC) must recuse themselves from handling any manuscripts involving their own institution or research reviewed by their committee.
Roles and Responsibilities of Authors
Authors must adhere to all journal requirements and ethical principles. Their responsibilities include:
Submitting manuscripts according to the journal’s formatting and submission guidelines.
Revising manuscripts thoroughly based on comments from editors and reviewers; if unable to address a comment, authors must provide justification.
Undergoing plagiarism screening via the ThaiJO system. Manuscripts with more than 20% similarity require explanation and revision.
Ensuring English-language manuscripts have been reviewed by a qualified language expert (with certification attached).
Submitting and revising manuscripts through the ThaiJO system within the specified time frame.
Carefully checking content before final online submission, as the journal will not revise manuscripts once published in the system.
Ensuring that Original Articles, Short Communications/Brief Reports, and Case Reports have IRB/EC approval.
Consulting up-to-date and credible literature sources.
Ensuring the manuscript is not under consideration by another journal at the same time.
Avoiding all forms of plagiarism.
Generative AI Use Declaration (Required): If authors use Generative AI or AI-assisted tools during manuscript preparation, such use must be limited to language refinement, grammar correction, or formatting assistance only. AI must not be used to generate data, results, scientific interpretations, or substantive content. Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy and integrity of the manuscript. Authors must disclose AI use in a statement placed before the reference section, for example: “The authors used an artificial intelligence tool (specify tool name) to improve the language of this manuscript. No AI tool was used to generate data, results, or scientific conclusions.”
Roles and Responsibilities of Peer Reviewers
Peer reviewers play a critical role in maintaining academic quality. Reviewers must:
Conduct all reviews through the ThaiJO system.
Assess manuscripts based on scientific rigor, research methodology, and academic merit; formatting issues are secondary.
Participate in the double-blind review process and maintain anonymity.
Avoid requesting any personal benefit or compensation from authors.
Review manuscripts fairly, objectively, and without bias.
Avoid direct contact with authors; all communication must occur through the editorial office.
Understand that the final decision rests solely with the editors, regardless of reviewer recommendations.
Suggest relevant, credible, and up-to-date references when appropriate.
