FACTORS ASSOCIATED WITH SURVIVAL OUTCOMES IN OUT-OF-HOSPITAL CARDIAC ARREST: A RETROSPECTIVE STUDY IN BURIRAM HOSPITAL

Abstract

          Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest (OHCA) is a life-threatening emergency associated with a high mortality rate. This retrospective analytical study aimed to investigate survival outcomes and analyze factors associated with survival among OHCA patients at Buriram Hospital. Data were collected from medical records and the emergency patient database between January 1, 2022, and December 31, 2024. A total of 139 patients were included in the study. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and logistic regression analysis.

          The results revealed that the rate of Return of Spontaneous Circulation (ROSC) among OHCA patients was 27.34%, while the survival rate to hospital discharge was 8.63%. Factors significantly associated with survival outcomes included age, witnessed arrest, prehospital Automated External Defibrillator (AED) use, and transport time (p < 0.05).

          These findings emphasize the importance of early prehospital interventions. Promoting bystander cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), increasing accessibility to AEDs, and improving emergency medical services (EMS) systems may enhance survival outcomes among OHCA patients.
